Hi guys. Hope all is well with everyone! i have been gone all summer but now back in the shop a bit. The project now is repairing a hobart commercial meat slicer for my nephew who just opened a little cafe. The data plate is missing from the unit so i have no info except what i can get from google images searches. My best guess from images is that it is a model #1612.
He was told it had a bent shaft and was thinking i could straighten it or make a new one. I removed the gears so that the only thing running was the motor and it still sounded rough so i think it is, instead, a bad bearing.

Troubleshooting common problems with hobart slicers can be tricky! but, if you know what to look for and what to do, you won't have any difficulty. First, make sure that the power cord is securely plugged in and the switch is turned on. If the machine still doesn't work, examine the electrical wiring for any frayed or cut wires. You may need to replace them. Also, check for obstructions around the blade area or inside of it. Make sure nothing's blocking it from spinning freely like a piece of food. Additionally, ensure that all parts are correctly assembled and properly lubricated.
Hi all! i’m new here but wanted to see if anyone has any knowledge on hobart slicers and can help me out? either directly with the issue or guide me to the right place? hobart service said they can’t check it out for 6 months and we use this daily! our machine automatically slices, it seems the blade turns on but the arm isn’t moving and it turns off after a few seconds. Even on manual thank you so much in advance!!.
Make sure to check the official manual meat slicer for more detailed information about disassembling. Remove each of these items by following the steps below in the order listed carriage tray: to remove the carriage tray, make sure to first close the gauge plate by pulling the carriage to the front. After that, unfasten the knob and lift the tray straight up. Knife cover – to remove the knife cover, unscrew the knob on it and remove the rod, and lift the cover free from the guide pin. Deflector – when removing the deflector, you have to first unfasten the hex-headed pin which should allow you to slide the deflector down and clear the pin.
Begin by removing the slicer’s blade. Use an appropriate wrench to loosen the blade cover and carefully lift the meat slicer blade out of its position. Set the blade aside in a safe place.
